2008 RIVERVIEW HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATE IS OUTSTANDING ON BELMONT UNIVERSITY'S SOCCER FIELD
Dan Meacock, a rising sophomore at Belmont University, knocked on the door of Div I college soccer and blasted through. A freshman starter, he began his college career by scoring a game-winning goal against Winthrop University in the Bruins’ opening contest. Meacock delivered the same against opponent Gardner-Webb University in the “Soccer for a Cure” Tournament, where he was also named to the All-Tournament team. Additional accolades earned by this tenacious athlete include: Atlantic Sun Offensive Player of the Week and being named to the All-Conference Freshman team. His on-field contributions helped lead the Bruins to their most wins in a season (11) - ever - and Belmont’s first conference tournament win in six years. Meacock led his team in scoring with 10 goals, earning a total of 22 points for the season. He is now tied for second all-time in top scoring in a season, and is tied for third all-time total points in a season. Not to be outdone off the field, Dan was also named Academic All-Conference.

SARASOTA COUNTY MIDDLE SCHOOL TRACK MEET 5/5/09
Despite being decidedly under the weather, Charisa Powell (Pine View Middle School & Team IPS) pulled off an amazing performance at yesterday's Sarasota County Middle School Track & Field meet. She scored (in this order) a 2nd and 1st place - giving her team 18 points towards their eventual runner-up status. In her first event (long jump), Charisa put herself in top contention with a solid leap of 14' 9". She ultimately placed second with only one useable jump and two fouls. Her second event, the quarter mile – the “ultimate gut check” – gave a true measure of this athlete’s abilities and potential. In a timed final, Charisa made up the stagger in the first turn and never let go of her lead. With grit and determination, she clocked in a remarkable 1:03.89 PR for a first place finish.
Well done Charisa!
